  • We liked this house
  • Cape Hatteras Light Station 27mm (in 35mm film)
  • Cape Hatteras Light Station 16mm (in 35mm film) Shows effect of wide angle lens. Less than 27mm is considered wide angle.
  • Cape Hatteras Light Station (Canon EOS-M6)
  • Cape Hatteras Light Station (Pixel 2)
  • Hatteras Island The lighthouse had to be moved because of relentless beach erosion. (Um, note how close the PierView is to the water's edge. Just sayin')

  • The surf was strong enough (from the effects of the Nor' Easter) that surfers came from miles around. We saw surfers swimming out, but never saw any actually surfing in. We heard a lot of surfers complaining in the parking lot that it was *cold*. Which it was so we didn't stay on the beach long enough to see any surfing.
  • The surf.
  • Surfers waiting. (We never saw any actual surfing.)
  • Petrified starfish that is now on one of our kitchen window sills.
  • Waiting to see some surfing.
  • Kat's Deli in Hatteras (about 15 minutes south of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse) Excellent sandwitches. Well worth the drive.
  • We liked this lawn ornament. The geese were taking a break from flying North.
  • Mulligan's Grille was good for dinner. We went twice.
  • Note that Mulligan's are battened down for the upcoming Nor' Easter. When we came the first night, the door was open.
  • The upper floors of Mulligan's is battened. Mulligan's is at least 1/4 mile from the ocean, with several layers of houses between it and the ocean.
