• Art tape goes in the sprocket hole area of the assembled carrier. Art tape appears to be regular black electrical tape cut into a narrow width.
• Back side of the carrier showing Art tape in the sprocket hole area. The tape raises the film up so that the image portion of the film doesn't touch anything. The tape is also soft.
• Front side of the carrier
• Half slide mount with the film area enlarged, so that the entire image frame will be captured. Art tape covers the sprocket hole area so that no portion of the film will touch the slide mount.
• Assembled carrier
• Assembled carrier with a negative. When the carrier is mounted on the Extend-a-Slide the Art tape will press on the sprocket hole area of the negative, to remove any curl. And will also prevent the negative from tipping, if it is on the first or last frame.
• Carrier with negative mounted on PhotoSolve Extend-a-Slide. Rosco #3202 tungsten-to-daylight filter is in between the carrier and the softbox (which isn't illuminated yet.) The #3202 filter partially removes the orange mask. VueScan converts better if the #3202 filter is used.
The tab on the front of the base plate is so I can clip another gel filter on, if I want to experiment with an additional layer of filter (from the Rosco Swatchbook of filter samples.)
The softbox provides the diffusion, far away from the focus plane so that any dust that is on the front of the softbox diffuser will not be in focus.
• The negative as captured by PhotoShop (just to see what it looks like. I really process it through VueScan.) The entire frame was captured. As a 60D RAW file that VueScan can open.
• Negative after processing with VueScan. This is the default conversion, with "White Balance" setting.
