Dupliscopes :-(

Test of two Dupliscopes mounted on my Canon 6D, compared against a Canon 60D + Canon 60mm macro lens + Photosolve Xtend-a-Slide.

The test images were all shot with the emulsion side facing the lens, and are
1. 60D + 60mm + Extend-a-Slide
2. 6D + Spiratone Dupliscope in stock configuration with no additional spacers
3. 6D + Spiratone Dupliscope with one empty slide mount as a spacer in back (facing the lens) of the real slide.
4. 6D + Lioner Duplicator in stock configuration with no additional spacers
5. 6D + Lioner Duplicator with one empty slide mount as a spacer in back (facing the lens) of the real slide.

The test images were resized to 3600x2400 (about eight megapixels) You really need to look at them at 100% to see the difference in sharpness. Hover over the first test image and choose "Original" size. Then you can step from image to image.

  • Lioner Duplicator. I used Staples rubber refridgerator magnets to make guide strips. (Otherwise it was way too easy for the slide to slip sidewise so that the strong leaf springs were rubbing on the slide emulsion. Ouch!)

  • Lioner Duplicator. It is T-mount but it came with an Olympus OM to T-mount adapter.
